Ackermans is a value retailer selling everyday contemporary casual wear at best prices. It offers an exciting range of coordinated mainstream fashion in clothing, footwear, homeware and accessories that appeals to the mass middle market of value-seeking consumers. These are mostly women with children wanting to give their families the very best within their means.
Ackermans' success story began in 1916 when Gus Ackerman opened the very first store in Wynberg, Cape Town, setting a benchmark for competitve prices that few could match. Today, with outlets across Southern Africa, including Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland and Botswana, the business continues to go from strength to strength.
Ackermans' proud heritage was built by focusing on the things that matter most to its customers; namely affordability, fashion and durability.
By enhancing the product offering and assortment, as well as improving the layout of stores, Ackermans now offers a modern, convenient shopping experience, created to exceed customers' expectations.
Jay Jays is the hottest and most exciting youth alternative to hit South Africa. It is a fast-fashion business offering the latest street looks at the best price. The target market is high-school and university shoppers who don't want to blow their budget.

These are in easily accessible locations in terms of public transport and the proximity of other essential shopping and customer services. There are 17 stores in Namibia, 9 in Botswana and two each in Lesotho and Swaziland.
